Al Andaluz Project

During the Al Andaluz (or Al-Ándalus) epoque, “Spanish” people of Arabic, Jewish and Christian religion lived together in a society known for its tolerance, scholarship, prosperity, trade and flourishing arts. The Al Andaluz Project wants to revive these aspects for today`s world. The collaboration of three groups who have made significant contributions to the renewal of medieval (Estampie), Mediterranean (L´Ham de Foc) and Sephardic (Amán Amán) music grew up during mutual visits to Valencia, Sevilla and Munich. The three completely different female voices (Sigi Hausen from Estampie, Mara Aranda of L´Ham de Foc, Iman al Kandoussi) alternate solo and background interpretation, representing three different cultures and ways to feel and transmit emotions through music. Great individual skills and leadership qualities of the musicians are put at the service of a group experience, without losing the depth and authenticity of their art, and with great respect towards the original tunes of the Sephardic, Árabo-andalusí and Christian musical heritage.
